Israel on Tuesday claimed it had killed Iran's security chief Ali Larijani, a veteran of the Revolutionary Guards and Iran's de facto wartime leader after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death. He was born in Iraq in 1957 to a prominent Shia cleric close to Islamic Republic's founder Ayatollah Khomeini. The 67-year-old was seen as a trusted and loyal lieutenant of Khamenei.
