People must get medicine before expiry: Govt on revising import requirement

Union Ministry of Health has proposed revising the minimum residual shelf-life requirement of imported drugs from more than 60% to 12 months at the time of import. The ministry aims to provide sufficient time for distribution before expiry and to ensure the medicine has usable shelf life when patients receive it. The rule would, however, be unchanged for biological products.
