Dry soil aiding growth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria: Study

A study found soil dryness caused by climate change and droughts promote the growth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The study analysed data from 116 countries and found higher dryness is associated with higher average frequency of antibiotic resistance. Researchers added that droughts increase antibiotic-producing soil microbes and exposure to them helps antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
