The Assam Cabinet on Tuesday approved a 3% quota for the "tea tribes" and Adivasi community in the Class I and Class II government jobs days before the state Assembly elections. Notably, the "tea tribes", who are Adivasis brought by the British planters from central India, and "ex-tea tribes" account for almost 20% of the voters in Assam.
