The Petroleum Ministry has denied reports claiming that the government is pursuing a deep-sea energy pipeline connecting Gujarat with Oman and other Gulf countries. "No such proposal is currently under consideration. There are no active discussions...with Oman or any other Gulf countries on this project," it stated. If built, the pipeline would stretch nearly 2,000 km across the Arabian Sea.
