OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said rumours that Anthropic models had solved a $1-million Millennium Prize problem prompted his team to test whether they could do the same. OpenAI later claimed its model solved the 9-year-old Navier-Stokes problem in 88 hours. Altman also defended his team amid plagiarism allegations, saying they acted with "integrity and generosity" throughout the process.
