In what qualifies as a huge setback for former West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Ritabrata Banerjee, who was expelled by Trinamool Congress, has been elected as the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly. Ritabrata has the support of around 60 TMC MLAs. Amid speculations that TMC is headed for a split, Ritabrata said Mamata remains the chief of TMC.
