A new study has revealed that infrasound (below 20 Hz) can make people feel more irritated and stressed. These low-frequency sounds, normally undetectable to the human ear, might provide unexplainable discomfort, which some people may attribute to a ghost or haunting, a senior author said. Ventilation systems, heavy traffic, large appliances, and industrial equipment can generate such sound.
