Ninety per cent of the synthetic tracks in India are substandard "material-wise, laying-wise, marking-wise", Athletics Federation of India (AFI) spokesperson Adille Sumariwalla said. He added, "Instead of polyurethane, in places, only tyre rubber is being used." Sumariwalla noted though AFI had stayed away from track certification, it'll now start the process after directives from World Athletics.
