OpenAI building new AI agent that never stops working: Report

OpenAI is developing a "Persistent Mode" for its Codex command-line tool that would let the AI agent work continuously in the background until manually stopped, NewsBytes reported, citing a source. Unlike traditional chatbots, the feature could generate follow-up tasks, decide what to tackle next and operate across sessions. The agent may also contact users when milestones are completed.
