Infants expect caregivers to comfort crying babies, finds study

Even before they can speak, infants appear to develop expectations about how caregivers should respond to a crying baby, according to a study. It found that infants between the ages of six and 12 months generally expect a caregiver to stop what they are doing and comfort a crying baby. The findings were based on observations of 113 infants.
