Ladakh observes 'Martyrs Day' shutdown 1 year after 2025 violence

Several parts of Leh and Ladakh observed a shutdown on Thursday as "Martyrs' Day," marking the first anniversary of the 2025 Ladakh violence, which claimed four lives. The violence followed protests demanding statehood for the Union Territory and Sixth Schedule safeguards. Notably, criminal cases against 20 people booked in connection with last year's violence were withdrawn.
