IAS officer Om Kant Thakur was attacked while conducting a surprise inspection to check illegal mining in Himachal Pradesh on Monday night, officials said. Thakur, currently posted as SDM of Mandi Sadar, was struck on his face, causing his tooth to break. One attacker, Hira Lal Thakur, was caught, with officials saying he's not involved in mining.
