Passenger plane crashes and flips at airport in Canada

A Delta Airlines plane travelling from US' Minneapolis crashed and flipped at Canada's Toronto Pearson International Airport. Pictures have surfaced on social media showing the aircraft upside down. According to initial reports, at least eight people have been injured. All arrivals and departures at the airport have been suspended.

Gyanesh Kumar appointed new Chief Election Commissioner

Gyanesh Kumar has been appointed the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Ministry of Law and Justice announced on Monday. He will replace Rajiv Kumar, who will demit office on Tuesday after attaining the age of 65. Gyanesh Kumar is a 1988-batch IAS officer from Kerala cadre. He was earlier a part of the Union Home Ministry.

Delhi-NCR residents reported hearing loud noise during earthquake on Monday. According to US Geological Survey, when ground vibrates, it generates short-period seismic waves that travel through air as sound waves. First waves produced by earthquake, called P waves, behave like sound waves and can cause atmospheric vibrations. Shallower epicentres release more energy, making sounds more audible.
