Indonesia hit by 6.9-magnitude earthquake, second tremor in a day

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Indonesia on Saturday, marking the second strong quake to hit the country in a day, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicentre was located near Pematangsiantar, around 126 kilometres southeast of Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. This followed a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake off Flores that killed at least 38 people.
