Social worker Janardan Bapurao Bothe from Maharashtra received Padma Shri for his contribution to social work, rural upliftment and the promotion of the 'Gramgeeta' philosophy. Inspired by the ideals of Rashtra Sant Shri Tukdoji Maharaj, the 86-year-old considers "welfare of all" his religion. He's done cleanliness drives, environment conservation and established schools in adivasi region.
