China has proposed a new economic corridor linking China, Myanmar and Bangladesh after the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The proposal was discussed during Bangladeshi PM Tarique Rahman's visit to Beijing. If completed, the corridor could expand China's strategic presence in the Bay of Bengal. Notably, India has opposed the CPEC construction as it is being laid through PoK.
