The Canadian government on Wednesday introduced a new digital safety bill that would ban children under 16 from social media. The bill also proposes to set up a digital regulator to establish safety standard and make AI chatbots safer. Firms could face fines of 3% of their global revenue or C$10 million ($7.2 million), whichever is more, for not complying.
