Government has issued new norms for sleeper buses following several deadly fire accidents that claimed around 145 lives in the last six months. Sleeper buses can now be built only by automobile companies or manufacturers accredited by the Central government. All existing sleeper buses must now have safety features like fire detection systems, driver drowsiness alert systems, etc.
