Drinking water crisis deepens in Mumbai as water level in city's 7 lakes falls below 10%

Concerns over drinking water supply in Mumbai deepened as the city's seven lakes fell below 10% of their total storage capacity on Thursday morning. These reservoirs almost entirely depend on monsoon rains for replenishment, which the IMD has predicted to be delayed by over two weeks this year. The BMC had earlier announced supply cuts to deal with the situation.
