Microsoft issues statement after US green card curbs, clarifies '6,000 H-1B filings' claim

Microsoft issued a statement after US suspended it from Permanent Labor Certification Program, a key step towards securing employment-based green cards. It said the vast majority of its US employees are Americans. Responding to claims that it laid off 6,000 workers while filing 6,800 H-1B applications, it said 80% of the filings were to extend or change existing employees' status.
