A Haitian gang that kidnapped 16 Americans and one Canadian missionaries over the weekend has reportedly demanded $17 million to release them. Haiti's Justice Minister Liszt Quitel said the FBI and Haitian police are in contact with the kidnappers and seeking the missionaries' release. Amid Haiti's growing political and economic crisis, over 600 kidnapping incidents have been reported in 2021.
