The government has dismissed claims of severe power crisis and grid failures due to coal shortages amid peak summer demand. "The maximum peak demand on 02 May...was 229 GW and was met completely...there was no shortage," PIB Fact Check said. "The total coal stock with thermal power plants...stands at 53.702 million tonnes, which is sufficient to meet requirements," it added.
