BJP leader K Annamalai congratulated actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for its strong poll performance, saying, "Spectacular debut in politics". Calling the result a reflection of public sentiment, he said it showed people rejecting "dynastic politics" and "yes to generational shift in politics". As of 5:30 pm, TVK was leading on 91 seats in Tamil Nadu.
