Actor Ricky Gervais to marry partner of 44 years to avoid 'horrible' ₹983-cr inheritance tax

Actor-comedian Ricky Gervais has finally decided to marry his longtime partner Jane Fallon after 44 years together. The 65-year-old cited UK's 'horrible' inheritance tax rules, under which if he marries Jane, she would be exempt from paying 40% tax for property transfer. If unmarried, Jane will have to pay ₹983 crore tax to inherit his ₹2,462-crore estate after standard deductions.
