Man’s snake awareness drive helps curb snakebite deaths in Odisha

Biplab Mahapatra began an initiative in 2011 to rescue snakes and educate people about the differences between venomous and non-venomous species amid rising snakebite deaths in Odisha's Angul district. His campaign has helped reduce snakebite deaths over the past five years. He formed a team of nearly 50 volunteers to teach people how to identify snakes and respond to encounters.
