Brin takes direct control of Google Gemini to close AI gap with rivals: Report

Google Co-founder Sergey Brin, who no longer holds an executive role, has urged key AI staff to commit fully and move faster to improve Gemini’s capabilities, Reuters reported. The move comes as parent company Alphabet seeks to close the gap with rivals OpenAI and Anthropic. Notably, Koray Kavukcuoglu, who is heading DeepMind after Demis Hassabis stepped down, had Brin’s backing.
