Indian-origin American and world number 148 Nishesh Basavareddy defeated seventh seed Taylor Fritz in French Open first round, sealing his first win against a Top 10 player. The 21-year-old was born in California to Indian parents hailing from Andhra Pradesh. He had climbed to world number 3 in ITF junior rankings and broke into ATP top 100 in June 2025.
