Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor, reacting to omission of Kerala capital from 48 major cities' infrastructure upgrade initiative announced by Ministry of Railways as part of the Vision 2030, said he was dismayed to note "glaring omission". He stated exclusion appears to be a significant administrative oversight given city's strategic and operational prominence within Southern Railway network.
