The Mount Ibu volcano on the remote Indonesian island of Halmahera erupted on Saturday, spewing a grey ash cloud into the sky as high as four kilometres, officials said. The eruption prompted the evacuation of seven nearby villages. Indonesian authorities have raised the alert level of the volcano to the highest level following a series of eruptions earlier this month.
