short by Sunny Sharma / on Wednesday, 25 March, 2026
Scientists have found the human brain is not unique, as it ages similarly to that of mice. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, researchers scanned the brains of 82 mice aged 3-20 months, roughly corresponding to ages 18 to 70 years in humans. They observed mice, like humans, show reduced specialisation in brain networks responsible for functions like memory and perception.
