Tennis body mandates one-time gene test for female players' eligibility

Tennis players will be required to undergo a one-time gene test to compete on the women's tour, the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) said after updating its eligibility policy. It added that the once-in-a-lifetime test for the SRY gene, which helps determine biological sex, can be conducted through a cheek swab/blood test. The new policy will come into effect on Tuesday.
