Study of 75,000 DNA markers reveals Tamil genetic roots
A Madurai Kamaraj University study analysed over 75,000 genetic markers from ancient human remains found at Tamil Nadu's archaeological sites. Samples collected from Konthagai, Adichanallur and Sivagalai showed inhabitants share close genetic proximity to South Indian, Sri Lankan Tamil and South Asian ancestries. The study may give insights into past population mixing and Sangam-era life.
