New York to fine firms up to $5,000 for undisclosed AI-generated people in ads

US' New York will now fine firms for not clearly labelling the use of a "synthetic performer". Firms that do not "conspicuously disclose" synthetic performers will be subjected to a fine of $1,000 on first violations and $5,000 for further violations. 'Synthetic performers' are defined under state law as any digitally-created media that appear as real people.
