Decaying dark matter behind early supermassive black holes: Study
short by Girish Kumar Anshul / on Tuesday, 28 April, 2026
A University of California study suggests decaying dark matter might have caused the early existence of supermassive black holes discovered by James Webb Telescope. These black holes, having masses up to billions of suns, were observed around 500 million years post Big Bang. The study observes that dark matter's energy release may have changed the chemistry of first gas clouds.
