Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), sometimes known as "winter depression", is a mental health condition triggered by the change in seasons, according to NHS and MedlinePlus. For most people, symptoms usually appear during the fall and winter seasons and subside by the spring and summer months. However, in about 10% of people suffering from SAD, the pattern is vice versa.
