Sensex jumps 1,400 points after Trump's party loses midterm polls

Benchmark indices opened higher a day after Democrats secured a sweeping victory in the US midterm elections, dealing a major blow to President Donald Trump's Republican Party. Sensex jumped 1,400 points to 78,922.44, while Nifty opened above 24,300. Crude oil prices also hit a two-month low as investors hoped the Democratic victory could help bring an end to US-Iran war.
