Militiamen have killed 18 civilians in a church compound in Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday, a witness and a local human rights groups said. The civilians were sleeping in the church outbuildings when the attack took place in Banyali Kilo district in the Ituri province, according to a report. They had reportedly fled there after escaping from previous attacks.
