short by Vinayak Nair / on Monday, 13 July, 2026
Reacting to proposed removal of a 136-year-old mosque from Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, West Bengal BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya said it "should not be turned into a 'Mandir-Masjid' dispute". "We need a modern airport. Look at other states and see how many airports they have," he said. State government cited security and operational concerns for shifting mosque.
