Rome to charge entry fee from tourists visiting Trevi Fountain

Rome’s mayor announced that tourists will have to pay an entrance fee to see Trevi Fountain and five other sites in Italy’s capital. While Trevi Fountain will still be viewable from a distance for free, tourists will have to purchase a €2 ticket to get a closer look starting February 1, 2026. The move has been introduced to combat over-tourism.
