Spain forward Nico Williams' parents, Maria and Felix, crossed the Sahara barefoot in temperatures of 40-50°C while Maria was pregnant, travelling from Ghana to Melilla, Spanish enclave in North Africa. After Spain were crowned FIFA World Cup 2026 champions, the 24-year-old handed his gold medal to his mother in the stands. Nico assisted Spain's winner in World Cup 2026 final.
