Scientists at Flinders University have developed a new way to trap chemicals in water using nano-sized cages that remove up to 98% of Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) molecules. It aims to trap short-chain PFAS which are difficult to remove with current water treatment technologies. Researchers used mesoporous silica as it typically does not bind PFAS on its own.
