A 109-year-old war loan certificate belonging to a Madhya Pradesh family resurfaced, sparking questions about the value of the payout if the loan were repaid. The family had loaned ₹35,000 to the British Raj in 1917 to fund its World War I efforts at a 5.5% annual interest. Compounding annually, the original ₹35,000 would've grown to ₹1.2 crore by now.
