Scientists warn that satellite mega-constellations in low Earth orbit could fail within days if a powerful solar storm disrupts control systems. A study introducing the CRASH Clock found that loss of command could trigger a catastrophic collision within about 2.8 days, with a 30% probability. Such collisions could spark Kessler Syndrome, making satellite operations and launches unsafe worldwide.
