China has blocked Meta's $2 billion-acquisition of Manus, marking its commitment to stop US firms from acquiring Chinese talent. The deal was announced in 2025, following which the Chinese AI startup relocated to Singapore to bypass US and China's scrutiny, dubbed as "Singapore washing". However, China reportedly summoned Manus' Co-Founders and blocked them from leaving the country in March.
