9,909 forgotten Indian soldiers, who died during WW I, recognised after a century

A total of 9,909 soldiers from pre-partition India (most from Punjab) who served in British Indian Army during World War I have been recognised in UK-based Commonwealth War Graves Commission's records. It's the largest addition to CWGC's casualty records since World War II. They were excluded due to colonial-era policies denying recognition to soldiers who died in India's non-operational zones.
