The Darien Gap is a 97-km stretch of dense rainforest, swamps and mountains and is a roadless crossing on the border between Colombia and Panama. It is home to poisonous snakes, jaguars and deadly insects. The route also has the presence of smuggling networks, drug cartels, and armed groups, who torture migrants, looking to enter US, and also rob them.
