Dalai Lama's brother Gyalo, key leader in China talks, dies at 97

Gyalo Thondup, the elder brother of Dalai Lama and ex-chairman of exiled Tibetan government in India, has passed away at the age of 97 in Kalimpong. Gyalo had held several rounds of talks with China and worked with foreign governments for Tibetan cause. He was primarily responsible for liaising with Indian government when Dalai Lama escaped to India in 1959.
