Capgras syndrome, also known as Capgras delusion, is a psychiatric condition wherein a person believes that someone emotionally close to them has been replaced by an identical-looking impostor. Although the face appears unchanged, brain fails to trigger normal emotional sense of familiarity. It may occur as a complication of several neurodegenerative diseases and mental health conditions.
