Researchers create laser-printed hydrogel for future bone implants
short by Neeraja Nath / on Wednesday, 4 March, 2026
Researchers at ETH Zurich have developed a laser-printed jelly-like hydrogel that could be used as a bone implant in the future, providing a biology-friendly alternative to metal or ceramic devices. Using laser light, the hydrogel can be very quickly solidified into microscopically fine, intricate bone-like structures at record speeds so that bone-forming cells can colonise it.
